Terms of Service

Ontyx introduces you to local service providers. We do not verify them, we are not a party to your agreement with them, and no money passes through us. Ontyx is free for you — providers pay a flat monthly subscription, and we take no commission.

Before you hire anyone, check their credentials yourself. See the Disclaimer, which is part of these Terms.

These Terms are between you and Ontyx.

You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract. By creating an account, sending an enquiry or posting a request, you agree to these Terms, the Disclaimer and the Privacy Policy.

Keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. Do not impersonate anyone, post false or unlawful content, scrape the site, or use Ontyx to harass or discriminate against anyone.

When you send an enquiry to a provider, we pass them the details you entered, including your name and phone number, so they can respond.

When you post an open request, providers in that category and city see the job details only. Your name and phone number are shared with a provider only when you accept their response — we tell you that before you accept.

Once your details are shared we cannot recall them. How a provider handles them is governed by their own obligations under privacy and anti-spam law. If a provider misuses your information, tell us.

You keep ownership of what you post. You give us permission to host and display it on Ontyx.

Only review a provider you actually contacted or engaged through Ontyx, and describe your own experience. You are responsible for what you write — a review that states something false about a named business can expose you to legal liability.

We may remove content that breaks these Terms or the law, but we are not obliged to monitor. We do not edit reviews to change their meaning.

Ontyxis provided "as is" and "as available". We make no promise about any provider, about the work they do, about the accuracy of what they say about themselves, or about the site being uninterrupted or error-free.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Ontyx is not liable for loss or damage arising from your use of the site, from the acts or omissions of any provider, from any agreement or dispute between you and a provider, or from content posted by other users.

If that exclusion is held to be invalid, our total liability to you for all claims is limited to CAD $100. Ontyx is free to you and we take no share of what you pay a provider; that is the basis on which it can be offered at no cost.

Nothing in these Terms excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our own negligence, for our own fraud, or for anything that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Tell us first — most things we can fix. Email hello@ontyx.ca and we will acknowledge within 2 business days.

Nothing in these Terms requires you to arbitrate, and nothing stops you going to court — including small claims court — or joining a class proceeding. After a dispute has arisen, we may both agree in writing to mediate. That choice is always yours.

You can stop using Ontyx and close your account at any time. We may suspend an account that breaks these Terms, or immediately where the law requires it or to protect users from fraud or a safety risk.

If we make a material change to these Terms we will give you at least 30 days' notice and say when it takes effect. Continuing to use Ontyx after that date means the new Terms apply. We may act immediately only where needed for legal compliance or security.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the laws of Canada that apply there, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Alberta courts.

Nothing here limits your right to bring proceedings in the courts of the province where you live, or to rely on the consumer protection laws of that province where they apply and cannot be contracted out of.
