Ontyx helps you find local service providers and passes your enquiry to them. That is the whole of what we do.

We are not a party to any agreement you make with a provider. The contract for the actual work is between you and them. We do not supervise, direct or control how any provider does their job, we do not set their prices, and we do not guarantee that anyone will respond, quote, show up, or do the work well.

Ontyxdoes not check any provider's identity, licence, certification, insurance, criminal record, references or qualifications.

Anything shown on a provider's profile — their business name, services, prices, availability, any licence or registration number, or any claim about their experience — is supplied by that provider. We publish it as their statement. We have not confirmed it.

A provider appearing on Ontyx, or ranking highly in search results, is not a recommendation, an endorsement, or a statement by us that they are competent, licensed, insured or safe.

Many services listed here are regulated, and some may lawfully be performed only by a licensed person. Electrical, gas, plumbing and heating work, pest control, food preparation, child care and licensed professions all carry legal requirements that exist to protect you.

Before you hire someone, ask for their licence or registration number and confirm it directly with the regulator. In Ontario, only a Licensed Electrical Contractormay perform electrical work for hire — an individual's certificate is not enough. In Alberta, electrical, plumbing, gasfitting, refrigeration, hairstyling and barbering are all compulsory certified trades.

Ask for proof of liability insurance, and get a written quote and invoice before work begins.

Reviews are written by users. They are opinions and reported experiences, not statements by Ontyx, and we do not verify that they are accurate, current or complete.

We do not write, buy or synthesise reviews or ratings, and we do not remove genuine negative reviews on request or as a paid benefit. If you believe a review breaks our rules, report it and we will look at it.

You pay your provider directly. Ontyxdoes not collect, hold, transmit or process any payment for a provider's services, and is not a payment processor, escrow agent or collection agent.

We offer no guarantee, insurance, refund, money-back, satisfaction or payment-protection programme, and we have no role in deposits, chargebacks, non-payment or price disputes.

Deciding whether to contact or hire any provider is your decision alone, and you make it at your own risk. Use the same judgement you would when hiring anyone you found through a directory or a recommendation.

If something goes wrong with work a provider performed, your claim is against that provider. If a provider misrepresents themselves on Ontyx, please tell us — we will act on it.

We try to keep the site accurate and available, but we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any information on it is complete or current. Categories, availability and provider details change.

Nothing on Ontyx is legal, financial, medical, insurance or tax advice. Where a listing concerns a licensed profession, any advice you receive comes from that professional, not from us.
